Reading club

We get together a group of playmates, around 6-8, of children in the same age group and start playtime, showing them some positive interaction through singing, name games and numbers dance exercises.

After a few minutes (because their attention spans are short) we put a pile of books in the middle of the group and one short story in front of each child. For the correct practice we choose a short story, then, the teacher shows to the listeners the pictures as she read and do the voices and physical actions, when she finish, each child takes a turn reading a part with her help.

The following 5 lessons are dedicating to the practice the vocabulary and theatrical exercises around the story:

§ Lesson 1 : Characters
§ Lesson 2 : Plot
§ Lesson 3: Feelings
§ Lesson 4: Scenario, make up and costumes.
§ Lesson 5: Acting and performing the story

What we do if the child is older?

We continue this same form of interaction but increasing the child's involvement.

Theatre for human rights. An extra-curricular project

The extra-curricular activities of Theatre, Taal en Kunst are theatrical projects intended for  pupils practice Spanish or English as a second or third language.

Theatre complements language classes and provides students with the opportunity to put their learning into practice in a Spanish or English-language context alongside a native teacher.

Students can gain more confidence in their language skills, and in themselves, making it easier for them to express themselves in front of their peers and in public.

A fundamental part of the theatre project is the dimension of social psychology, namely its contribution to personal and group development. Students will get to know themselves and their classmates better, since theatre involves taking risks, trying new things out, and discovering one’s limits.

Theatre projects also contribute towards deeper understanding of an issue, greater respect for other people and stronger ties between members of the group or class.

Content

The programme uses an innovative and effective methodology.

First of all, it makes use of theatrical texts as a way to practice verbal communications in a language. The play Ashaali, which deals with child workers in a glass factory, is used as a stimulus to learning. Young participants in the programme study the text with the teachers, watch the play and then debate it.

Based on purely linguistic exercises, four modules of the SCREAM methodology are used in order to deepen understanding of the worst forms of child labour, and stimulate participants into creating their own work of drama.

Drama is the best way to work through those non-verbal aspects of language which do not tend to be taught in conventional methods – aspects such as body movement, the distance between people and conversational dynamics, among other things.

·         Computer program in order to learn how to editing, capturing the material, making the first cuts, rendering and titles.

2-Second part of he Video Production Seminar we work in ideas and needs.

·         Script
·         Pre production and division of the group according to interests and abilities.

3-Third part The Video Production we shoot the film and edit.

The following lessons are dedicated to film and editing.

The seminar will have given the participants a realistic impression of what it needs to create a video/short film.

Time is a very important factor in media production, the participants will learn to work within short time scales and will need to adjust their speed to the speed of the group dynamics to make the project happen.

Reliability, steadiness, teamwork are essential to a successful media production.

The seminar is more a learning by doing, and maybe more likely a chance to take a peek into a media production under professional guidance which will assist at any time in advice and deed while practicing English and having fun.
